Younger generation 'expect eCash options'
28 Jul 2009
McDonald's, gas stations and the internet have all contributed to young Americans getting used to being able to use cards to make eCash payments.
That is the view of Mark Trotter, chief of healthy vending group YoNaturals, who told Vending Times that it is important for the company's success that it provides a cashless payment option.
According to the publication, cashless payment accounted for three per cent of YoNaturals' sales two years ago, but this has increased to 18 per cent today.
Explaining the success of his firm, Mr Trotter said: "The machine is full of stuff priced at $1 to $3 - and that doesn't stop people from buying."
He added: "It's often double the cost of the items in the machine next to it and still it sells a high volume. Our average cashless sale is $2.50 to $3."
Last week, the Times in the UK reported that a cashless society is becoming more and more widely accepted.
