US resort tries living without cash
13 Aug 2009

Living without cash can be an option for some visitors at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, North Carolina.

This is due to a system that has been set up by automatic wristband identification company Precision Dynamics.

A statement from the company has indicated that its Smart Band RFID Wristband can be used by customers to make cashless payments for food and gifts.

Throughout the resort there are point-of-sale workstations which are compatible with the products.

Additionally, the bands can be used to gain entry into hotel rooms, which means keys no longer have to be carried around.

Phillip Cunningham, general manager at Great Wolf Lodge, said: "Convenience is a big factor with guests when selecting a resort. They want to make purchases quickly and easily."

While Smart Bands are being used in North Carolina, contactless smart cards are being put to use in the UK.

Thanks to sQuidcard, residents in Bolton, Greater Manchester, will soon be able to use their BoltonĀ Councilsmart cards to pay for bus travel in the region.
