Tactile Visa Brand Mark launched on credit cards
8 Jul 2011

Some credit cards now come with the Tactile Visa Brand Mark, designed to help partially sighted and blind people find their plastic with ease among other cards in their wallets.

Managing director of the UK and Ireland with Visa Europe Marc O'Brien explained that making cards easier and quicker to locate will boost this demographic's confidence when it comes to making purchases, Finextra reports.

"Both our member banks and their customers have been looking for a solution and following extensive consultation we believe this is a straightforward option that will improve the ease of card use," he remarked.

A raised varnish key line has been added around the Visa Brand Mark, which the company believes is subtle enough that potential criminals will not be alerted to a person's blindness.

Cards with electronic money capabilities could also help blind people when out shopping, as they do not have to sign their names or input any pin numbers when completing transactions but just have to wave their card in front of a reader to pay.
