Smart card forum draws nearer
20 Aug 2009
The eighth annual Smart Cards in Government Conference will be held in Washington DC later this year.
Hosted by the Smart Card Alliance, the event will run for three days between October 28th and 30th at the US capital city's Convention Centre.
According to the alliance, smart card technology - which includes contactless smart cards - has grown in recent times, "reflecting the rapid expansion of government identity and security initiatives".
Boasting around 800 registrants and 50 exhibitors and sponsors, the conference is apparently the largest annual event for the government smart card sector.
In addition to their association with security, contactless payment cards are regularly being used to purchase goods around the world.
In the UK, eMoney network sQuid offers full transparency to both its customers and merchants, with its online portal offering visibility of all transactions.
Merchants benefit from being able to identify trends within their business, while users can keep a regular check on their spending.
